Thousands of refugees live in Austin and hundreds more will arrive in the next few months. Only a handful will have church sponsors, but all will need help navigating our city and the programs that are set up to support them. Christ calls us to care for the widows, orphans and aliens among us, but are we listening? Do we know who they are? Do we know how to help?
This site is set up to help facilitate the connections between the faith community and our refugee neighbors. Follow the tabs to learn about the refugee struggles and how you, your church or faith organization can take steps to make an important difference in their lives.
I have been so blessed to become friends with my refugee neighbors and have probably learned more from them than they have from me. Through these friendships, I have the opportunity to enrich my children's worlds by introducing them to folks from other cultures. Regularly, I broaden my understanding of God's love and provision by witnessing the faith of many of the refugees I get to interact with. And I get to share a bit of who God created me to be and how He has blessed my life.
We are the Body and we are called to be Christ's hands and feet. If I can assist you in any way to get to know the refugees in our city and discover the blessings they bring to us, please contact me. If you want to volunteer today, please check out the "Get Involved" tab.
We are truly blessed in order to be a blessing. I invite you to join me on this exciting journey to care for our refugee neighbors!
